    Three graphic organizers used to help a child write narratives. Includes places to input the important story elements and to put the details of the narrative in order. Once the child has organized all of the information, he/she will be able to write a complete, well-organized narrative.

  • Story Elements Graphic Organizer

    A simple graphic organizer that can be used to help a child retell a narrative by identifying the main story elements: setting, characters, events, problem, solution, and theme. Great for use in the classroom or in speech therapy for children with language delays who need a little extra help breaking down the parts of a narrative.

  • Making Inferences No-Prep Therapy Kit

    Making inferences about a text is an important skill when it comes to understanding narratives. Help a client learn to make inferences based on text or social cues. Welcome! I am a speech-language pathologist based out of Missouri, United States of America. I work full time running the Speech and Language Kids website and our professional membership program at www.SLPSolution.com. In addition to that, I also see speech therapy clients in a local school district one day per week.

  • What Ages is this Course For?

    This course could be used with clients who are working on improving their narrative skills. This is targeted in school-age children and teens of all ages.

  • Who Should Take this Course?

    This course is designed for speech-language pathologists, speech-language therapists, and speech-language pathologist assistants/aides. This course assumes a basic level of understanding of speech-language pathology and so would be most helpful for those with training and experience in this area. However, caregivers and educators may benefit from this information as well.

  • Can I ask questions or get support while taking the course?

    Yes! Each page of the course will have a forum where you can ask questions and see other participants' questions. I'll be hopping in regularly to answer questions so check back for my response!

  • How long will I have to complete this course?

    You will have access to the course materials for a full 6 months.

  • Can I Get Continuing Education Credit for this Course?

    Yes! You can download a certificate of completion for the 1 hour of video content. However, Speech and Language Kids/SLP Solution is not an ASHA-Approved CEU provider so we cannot offer you ASHA CEUs for your participation. You can use the certificate of completion as "Professional Development Hours (PDH)" and they can count toward your 30 hours that ASHA requires. You will need to check with your state licensing organization or your country (if outside USA) to see if they will accept PDH instead of CEUs.
